A young boy watches as the adult men bow in prayer during the Muslim service held at Sun Angel Stadium at ASU to celebrate the end of Hajj season. The prayers mark the beginning of the four-day Eid ul-Adha, or "feast of sacrifice" holiday.
After graduating from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona with a degree in Communications/Photojournalism, I worked as a photography intern and later a freelance photographer for the East Valley Tribune and the Arizona Republic. Then, in 2000, I took a full-time photograpy job at the Post-Standard newspaper in Syracuse, NY. After enduring two winters in the chilly northeast, I returned to Phoenix where I am now a staff photographer at the East Valley Tribune. I have had so many amazing experiences while working for newspapers including hiking the Grand Canyon for a story about women backpackers, flying over the Grand Canyon in a helicopter to photograph the release of California Condors raised in captivity, participating in a winter survival course in snowy Flagstaff, Arizona, and getting to photograph the past 5 Fiesta Bowls. I love what I do and I still sometimes can't believe how much fun I get to have while at "work"!
